Making Your Own Cleaning Spray With Oils
July 27, 2020

So as a mother to a four year old son there are tons of sticky messes to clean up. Ive tried several “green” sprays and I always get a headache or feel nauseous after using them. I want to use something that I know will be safe to use around my son and dogs. So I started testing out diy natural cleaning sprays. So I have a few tips and ideas for natural cleaning sprays you can use in your home.
So first off two really great essential oils you should have in your arsenal. Cinnamon and Lemon. Cinnamon oil doesn’t only protect against insects but also a natural disinfectant. Lemon oil is a great disinfectant and a natural deodorizer. Really you could use any kind of citrus oil they all work great.
You can always make a simple spray with either lemon or cinnamon essential oil by adding a few drops to a spray bottle with water.
My favorite spray I call Germ B-Gone spray is an oil mixture with fractionated coconut oil or grapeseed oil and water in a spray bottle.
What you will need for this spray is
- Spray bottle
- Water
- Either Fractionated Coconut oil or Grapeseed oil
- Clove essential oil
- Lemon essential oil
- Cinnamon essential oil
- Eucalyptus essential oil
- Rosemary essential oil
- Frankincense essential oil (optional)
- Label of your choice

In the spray bottle add 10 drops of each essential oil. I also added in about 5 drops of Frankincense and did less of cinnamon essential oil due to my husband not liking the smell of cinnamon. You could add what works for you. Than add in about 5 pumps of fractionated coconut oil or you could use 2tTbsp of grape seed oil. Than add water and close the cap and shake real good. You can use a chalk label or just write on the spray bottle. You have now made an easy germ fighting cleaning spray. Not only will your house smell good but you will know what’s in it.
- Fractionated Coconut oil is essential the young coconut and stays liquid so it’s perfect for oil blends.
- Make sure to shake before you use because sometimes the oil settles.
I hope you enjoy this little cleaning spray recipe it one of my favorites and It makes me feel good knowing what I’m spraying on all my surfaces.
